Corner of El Cerrito Place and Outpost Drive Cleaned Up as Part of Beautification Effort!

In 2024, one of our neighbors approached Outpost Neighborhood Association (ONA) about partnering together to clean up and beautify the corner of El Cerrito Place and Outpost Drive. The corner area had been neglected for some time. The carob tree had not been pruned in many years, the irrigation was no longer working, weeds were growing, mulch was gone, plants died, and the city installed one too many sign posts. In summary, the corner of this part of Outpost Estates was looking pretty bad.

Our neighbor and 2024 Outpost Neighborhood Association Board member and Chair of the Beautification Committee, Natasha Kerek, lead an effort to work with the neighbors and gardner to prune the tree, fix the irrigation, do a landscaping plan, and oversee the planting and restoration of this area! And thanks to the Los Angeles City Department of Transportation, the ‘one too many’ sign post was removed from the area. Now the corner looks beautiful and will look even better come spring/summer once the plants start growing in.
