Schuldenfrei Family Donates $1,000 To Launch Fundraising for Outpost Estates Landscaped Traffic Islands Project

Ray and Dia Schuldenfrei, longtime residents of La Presa Drive and founding members of the Outpost Neighborhood Association (ONA; previously Outpost Homeowners Association), have generously donated $1,000 for the Outpost Estates Landscaped Traffic Islands Project.

Founding Members of Outpost Neighborhood Association, Ray and Dia Schuldenfrei, commit initial donation for the Outpost Estates Traffic Island Project.

With their generous donation, Ray shared:

My wife Dia and I moved into the Outpost Estates neighborhood 38 years ago. Obviously, we love it here, but are more concerned daily with ever increasing traffic and speed on our streets. Our association has done what they can to address the issue with the planted Islands, but this is not enough. I have seen a deer killed, many "fender benders", and a few serious accidents. So far, no one has been killed. The ONA Board has developed plans for additional landscaped traffic Islands, approved and endorsed by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, as an effective manner to slow down traffic, discourage cut-through traffic, and perhaps, save a life. Like everything else in our lives, the cost of additional Islands has increased dramatically.

My wife and I pledged a $1,000 gift to the Outpost Neighborhood Association with the intention of not only helping fund the project, but also encouraging our neighbors to make a similar commitment. We have already raised a portion of the monies needed to continue our efforts to resolve the problem. We need to do this now and I hope we can count on you.

The Schuldenfreis have played a key role over their decades’ of support in shaping ONA’s mission of improving safety and livability in Outpost Estates. Their matching donation will help raise critical funds to complete the installation of three new landscaped traffic islands on Outpost Drive, addressing the growing concerns around traffic safety.

ONA is incredibly grateful for the Schuldenfreis’ continued leadership and support of the community.

How You Can Help

Outpost Neighborhood Association (ONA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is an entirely volunteer-led organization, so 100% of donations support neighborhood initiatives and our minimal organizational overhead, maximizing the positive impact on our community.

ONA is raising funds through donations to cover the approximately $190,000 in costs to build the three landscaped traffic islands (about $64,000 per median). 100% of your donation to the ‘Outpost Estates Landscaped Traffic Islands Project’ will go to cover the cost of constructing these landscaped traffic islands (see the outline of the budget for the project below). Your contribution will go directly towards making our neighborhood a safer, more pleasant place to live and every dollar brings us closer to a safer Outpost Estates.

Together, we can ensure that our streets remain a safe, vibrant, and enjoyable part of our community. Your support is crucial. Please join us in this important effort by donating today.

Thank you for your support!
